The Welsh Pony and Cob Society http://wpcs.uk.com/ Founded in 1901 The Welsh Pony & Cob Society is the largest of Britain's Native Breed Societies. The Society's membership is worldwide, reflecting the popularity and versatility of Welsh Ponies and Cobs.
The first volume of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society Stud Book was published in 1902 and continue to be published on an annual basis. The Welsh Stud Book contains the breeding details of all registered pure and part-bred animals born in a particular registration year. The Stud Book contains four Sections: The Welsh Mountain Pony, under 12 hands (Section A), The Welsh Pony, under 13 hands 2 inches (Section B), The Welsh Pony of Cob Type, also under 13 hands 2 inches (Section C) and the Welsh Cob, exceeding 13 hands 2 inches with no upper height limit (Section D). In addition, Welsh Part-bred animals with a minimum 12.5% Welsh blood in their parentage can be registered with the Society.
In addition to producing an annual Stud Book, the Society produces an Index to the Stud Books every five years and an annual Journal (yearbook) for members.
The Society is governed by a board of 15 trustees and its offices are managed by an appointed Principal Officer, with 14 members of staff employed at the Society's new, refurbished office premises in Bronaeron, Lampeter...
Visitors to the office are welcome between 9am and 5pm, Monday through to Friday.
